Assumption Abbey/St Mary's Church
Assumption Abbey/ St Mary’s Church of Richardton, North Dakota was built in 1906-1910 as the St Mary’s Monastery church. Used by the Benedictines as a home and school, it also serves as the Catholic Church for the city of Richardton and surrounding area. The grant allowed them to restore five (5) sets of doors on the front of St Mary’s Church. The restoration included scraping, sanding, caulking and repainting the doors. It also allowed them to put new openers on the doors allowing more accessibility to the church. The Church holds regular services, weddings, funerals, daily monastic prayer, tours, concerts, and retreats.
