PND Local Affiliate Program

Preservation North Dakota (PND) offers an Affiliate Program to assist preservation organizations in starting a non-profit organization. The Affiliate Program enables organizations to become a legal entity in order to:
  • Fund-raise
  • Own property
  • Limit individual liability
  • Provide donors with tax benefits

Benefits

There are many benefits available to groups that organize as an Affiliate of PND. Benefits include:
  • PND grant opportunities.
  • Coverage under PND's 501(c) 3 status. (5-10% administrative fee)
  • Fundraising and grant writing assistance.
  • Technical and architectural assistance.
  • Organizational advice and advocacy.
  • Access to non-profit bulk mail services. (additional free application)
  • Reduced PND membership rate.
  • Discounts on workshops, annual conferences and events.
  • PND publications and newsletter.
  • Inclusion on the Prairie Places Listserv for announcements.
  • Advocacy on legislative matters.

Services

PND's Affiliate Coordinators help your group hold initial meeting and complete the ND Non-Profit registration forms:
  • Bylaws
  • Articles of Incorporation
  • Registered Agent Consent to Serve
  • Charitable Solicitation License (required to fund-raise in ND)
  • Employer Identification Number
  • Bulk Mail Permit Application (additional free application)
  • General information about non-profit organizations in North Dakota
  • Organizational Fund Agreement
  • New Affiliate organizational meeting minutes
  • Statement of minutes
  • Financial resolution
  • Organizational Brochure Template
  • One page web presence on PND's site
  • The ability to market products and manage donations through PND

Create A Local Affiliate

Becoming an affiliate of Preservation North Dakota is a great way to establish an organization interested in historic preservation. Many affiliates have taken on local restoration projects. It is also a valuable tool for existing organizations to connect with others in the field of historic preservation.

Partners

This system has been designed to give local preservation alliances a larger voice on state and national preservation issues. Partners of PND include:
  • State Historical Society of North Dakota
  • National Trust for Historic Places

PND does not charge for being a local affiliate. We do require reimbursement of mileage and travel expenses if you request a site visit. Your board will be expected to join PND as affiliate members. Filing papers with the Secretary of the State's office in Bismarck carries standard fees determined by that office.

Preservation North Dakota is not responsible for liabilities incurred by local affiliates.
